Dons number one Dimitar Mitov was the player who spoke to the media this week to preview Saturday night’s William Hill Premiership game against Dundee United. The keeper though was first of asked to reflect on the last fixture against Celtic and those final few minutes.

“My save in injury time at Celtic, first and foremost, that is my job and I am there to do that. It comes really quickly. It is just pure reaction. They tired to make it difficult by putting a man in front of me. I was just pleased to keep it out and for Duk to stop it on the line. Sometimes things like that are better than a goal! The celebration afterwards, it is not about Duk, it about the fact everyone went to celebrate with him. That shows how much it means to us and how much we like playing with each other. Throughout the game there were a lot of good blocks from Gavin and Rubi and other players as well. Everyone was fighting not concede a goal.

“We believed we could ask questions of Celtic if we chose our moments and we did that in the second half. You have to choose your moments correctly. We wanted to do it in the first half but you can’t always play the way you want against good sides. The message at half time was to keep doing the things we had been working on and eventually they would come off. And that’s what happened.

“We move on now and concentrate on the next game.

“It is amazing, another sell-out and another opportunity to go perform in front of our own fans. It is going to be a really good game and hopefully an exciting game for everyone.

“Having the unbeaten run we are on, it gives you confidence going into any game. For us though, we don’t really think about it, we just focus on trying to win each game and be the best version of ourselves. If we do that then we give ourselves a chance of getting the result we want.

“Everyone comes into the club with a smile on their face. The players want to stay on longer each day, and do extra work. Everyone gets on so well. We do a lot of things outside football together and we are very good mates on the pitch. We work for each other.

“Since day one the manager wanted to create one big happy family. We are getting there.

“I think having a healthy and happy squad will bring you success throughout the season.

“Saturday will be a very difficult game. Like any game in this league. Dundee United are direct and they want to get crosses into the box. They are good at what they do. We have to respect that, like we respect any football team we play. It is though about how we play, how we defend and how we attack. We have worked on it in training all week and it up to us now to put that work into practice and put on a performance on Saturday.

“No one is looking past the game tomorrow.

“We think about Dundee United. The games next week will take care of themselves. We think only about Dundee United and it another important game for us.

“As I say, we know it won’t be easy as Dundee United are a good team. If we manage to win tomorrow, we can then take that confidence into the next game.”
