Dons captain, Russell Anderson yesterday led his team-mates on their annual festive tour of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital as they took time out of their training schedule to deliver some Christmas cheer to the sick kids of the North East.

It was smiles all round as Russell, joined by, Mark Reynolds, Andy Considine, Jamie Langfield, Scott Vernon, Barry Robson, Ryan Jack, Peter Pawlett, Jonny Hayes, Michael Hector and Nicky Low toured the wards handing out sackfuls of AFC gifts to the brave youngsters and their families.

The players spent over three hours on the wards happily posing for photographs and signing autographs while handing out gifts.

All the gifts were bought with money contributed by each player in the home dressing room and also a generous donation from the club. The Club also gifted the hospital with further AFC goodies to be given out to any youngsters who are unfortunately admitted to the wards during the Christmas period.

Skipper, Russell Anderson, was delighted to play his part in making the trip a great success:

“The trip to the hospital is always one that we all look forward to and is a very important date in our calendar. We are always amazed how positive the youngsters are, it really is a humbling experience and one that puts football into perspective. It is a privilege for us to be able to spend time with the children and their families. Hopefully we brought some festive cheer to them all.”

“On behalf of everyone at AFC we hope they all made speedy recoveries and wish them a very merry Christmas”
