After the 2-0 defeat to Ross County in Dingwall, Derek McInnes had this to say:
“I thought Ross County played well. I thought their front two were a problem for us, more so first half.
“We got caught and one of our boys played Foster on for the first goal and from then on in we are scrambling to try and retrieve the situation.
“So we are 1-0 down at half time. I thought we started the second half well enough, but then when we changed it a bit at the back I thought we were far better. We showed an attacking threat, we were on the front foot, we were winning more of the second balls so there was a lot about our second half performance I was pleased about. But when we were attacking we have got caught for the second goal. Again there were mistakes in the build up to the goal but they got a little ricochet off Andy who got across and covered and the ball falls back to Brian.
“When we hit the post and got shots blocked on the line, we did not get that little bit of luck as well.
“It is not just about luck, I don't want to hide behind luck, but when we were winning game after game at the start to the season we were getting those little breaks. We are not quite getting them at the minute, certainly tonight we didn't.
“I felt we deserved a little bit more for our efforts.
“The players worked hard, the response was good, there is a real willingness and determination to start getting the results to go our way.
“We never got too high or carried away when we were winning game after game so we are not going to get too down at the moment.
“We are all realistic enough to know that we need to get back to winning games quickly.
“It is very rare that you come up against an out and out front two. Ross County have caused problems for most teams. They went into this game in good form and they are very strong at home. So we recognised that we needed to be better defensively than we were tonight to win the game.
“The positives were that we got Reynolds back, he got 45 minutes under his belt. He is an important player for us. I thought the performance second half was better from us, it was far more like us because we had an attacking threat and were creating chances.
“We will work hard next week to get the player back to form. We know that when they play to form we will win most games. We need to work hard for that form. The players are doing all they can to make that happen.
“We enjoyed winning together. We lose together. It is not so nice but we will work hard to turn things around.
“The players are all decent honest lads who want things to improve.
“We are good enough to win games in this league but we have not defended well enough in recent weeks. It is not about finger pointing and blaming this player or that player. When we lose we have to take collective responsibility to make things improve and things will improve.
“If we stay positive, stick together and work hard we will start winning games again.
“Ryan Jack was in the team that was named yesterday but started feeling ill last night in the hotel. He had a sickness bug over night and by mid morning we made a call on it (not to play him).”
