On the performance:
“I thought when we were good today, we were very good especially with some of the play in the first half. We had loads of pace and real energy in the team and a lot of good interchanging of passing, good support to strikers, people getting into good areas to score goals and I think we should have been two or three up before we actually scored.
“Ross County were really struggling to deal with us at times as we were really playing on the front foot with a lot of tempo. Although we never had the same intensity in the second half there was still loads of good opportunities that we passed up especially on the break.
“Ross County have some good players from middle to front who can score goals and we didn’t have it all our own way but when we were on top we had a real stranglehold on the game and we were excellent so there are loads of positives to take from today’s game.”
On the Rooney and Goodwillie partnership:
“There will be times when that can be an option for us in certain games and it was good to see both boys getting their goals. Adam has had to kick his heels in the last two or three games and he is a bit annoyed that he didn’t score a few more but you can see how good a player he is. The two players linked well and we got good service and support into them and all in all it was a very good performance.”
On upcoming home fixtures:
“We just take each game as it comes. We have had some tough games away at Celtic and away at St Johnstone. Now we have the opportunity to try and put some points on the board and hopefully get ourselves into the next round of the League Cup on Tuesday night. If we can play to the standard that we played today we will certainly have every opportunity of doing that.”
On the Hayes/Pawlett combination:
“Peter naturally works out into that area and he got into little pockets that made it difficult for their full back and I think he worked the space well. Hayes is very positive when he gets the chance to get at people and I thought he was excellent, he really enjoys playing at full back. There is a lot of energy and real pace about every player on that pitch today for us and that left hand side in particular was very prominent.”
On the McGinn injury:
“We think that he will be ruled out for Tuesday although that is not 100% confirmed yet. He felt a little tweak on his hamstring but he was sensible enough to flag that up quickly before he made it any worse.”
On the Willo/Ryan incident:
“It’s not nice to see and I don’t want to just dismiss it, the referee handled it well and he was totally right to caution them.”
