Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes reflected on a case of déjà vu as the Dons came away from the Tony Macaroni Arena with another 0-0 draw.
“It’s the same kind of story as it was on Wednesday night, we’re very disappointed we didn’t come away with all three points. Livingston are a big, physical side, they’re on a great run of form at the minute, but we stood up to them and had the better chances to win the game.
“It’s our third clean sheet in a row, we’re doing a lot of things right at the moment, the effort, the way we’re competing, a lot of the approach play, I’ve no complaints there. Defensively we handled their long balls into the box, we won the first header a lot of the time and from there we counter-attacked really well and created some opportunities that we didn’t take.
“We created some gilt-edged chances this afternoon, right the way through the game. McLennan’s that came off the bar, McCrorie, Kennedy, Hayes, Anderson’s header at the death, we weren’t short on giving ourselves a chance to win the game. In terms of that, I have to be pleased with what we did but we have to stick the ball in the net when the chance is there.
“It’s difficult playing without a recognised number nine to lead the line. I thought young Connor had some good moments in the game, but the team needs a bit of help at the top end of the pitch, we all need that lift, players, staff, supporters, and as a club, we’ll be working really hard on that in the next couple of days.
“The January window is traditionally difficult to bring a number nine in unless you’re spending big money. We’ve been chasing a few possibilities so I’m hopeful, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
