Barry Robson spoke to the media on Tuesday lunchtime to preview our cinch Premiership match with St Johnstone on Wednesday evening. RedTV subscribers can watch in full through the video above.

“Tomorrow’s game is really important just like every other game. It is a difficult game and it is always a hard place to go and play and get results. We understand that we know that, it will be a game that we have to go down and as I said perform as well as we can.

“First and foremost, Craig Levein is a really good manager. I worked under him, I was his captain at Dundee United and I was with him at Scotland as well. I have lots of respect for him. I think he’s been a terrific manager over the years who knows exactly what he’s doing. They are well organised and structured. I’ve watched their last three games and you can see what they’re trying to do. We need to try and bring our strengths to the game and hopefully we can perform.

“It was announced yesterday that there will be no winter break next season, I think the break is good. You can freshen up teams, players and staff. I think people forget staff sometimes in football clubs. Listen its because there’s more European games. It came at a good time for us after the schedule we had. It’s football, it is what it is as and we just deal with what comes our way and just crack on.

“We’re not sure what the system might be. They were playing a back five at Airdrieonians and after about 35 minutes they changed to a back four and matched them up with a diamond with two up top, if they do that again I am not sure. All of these things you need to think about. The team are well organised, we’ve got them into a structure today and we are putting the finer details into them and what we’re looking to get. You can never predict what an opposition is going to be so a lot of the time it can be often worked out at the time as the game starts. We just try and play our football and try to create as many chances we can.

“The midfield have performed really well in lots of games and in Europe they performed really well and so has Bojan at the top end of the pitch. I think the centre backs have been good as well. I think systems come and go but I think it is about principles and how you do things in the games. We like to stick to that rather than anything else. We want to press well, we want to get through teams well and we want to try and perform well and create chances.

“Team news wise we are all fine. Jimmy McGarry is still out with the hamstring problem so he is probably going to be another two to three weeks which is frustrating. We had just got him back going again, so that is one we will miss but everybody else is fine.”
