Manager Barry Robson spoke to the media on Tuesday lunchtime to preview our cinch Premiership match with Motherwell at Fir Park. RedTV subscribers can watch in full through the video above.

“It is a really difficult game, over the years having gone down to play Motherwell, it is a really difficult place to go and play and difficult place to try and win. We need to make sure we’re at our best and hopefully we will be.

“We’ll have a look at it (changes to the team.) I don’t want to give too much away on what we are trying to do but I think Sunday was a different type of game to the emotion of the European game which took a lot out of us for for the game on Sunday. We will look at the squad. I don’t think it’s ever wise to make five or six changes that doesn’t work either. We all know that. We will have a look at it today and see what we will do.

“I think Ester has played a bit more than a cameo. I think Angus has played two games, he was out for eight or nine weeks. Big Rhys has been the same. We’ve also got James McGarry who is injured with his speed on the wings, we have also got Shayden Morris who’s the same who’s injured. You do carry injuries as well. I think it’s not always easy to get everyone into the team and plus, we need to see good performances all the time. Now, they have been unfortunate because I think some of the centre backs have done really well. I think Stefan Gartenmann has been very good and Richard Jensen as well and we found a bit of a blend. It has been difficult, especially the Angus one it’s been difficult for him because we have had a couple of closed door games for him and trying to get him up to speed. Rhys Williams has struggled fitness wise with his back, he’s been in and out, in and out and we are still trying to get him up to speed as well in the background. They’re important members of our squad and they’ve been terrific. Honestly the whole lot of them have been so good. I think as well some of the players that have been playing have performed really well in games. Obviously some games we haven’t we know that. Hopefully we can pick the right team tomorrow and put a good performance on.

“I think expectation is big here and rightly so. We get that and we understand that. What myself and my staff have really tried to navigate is the games off the back of Europe. That is the ones we have really struggled in. We’ve actually looked at all the opposition teams we played against as well and I think PAOK made five changes and lost at the weekend. Haken have taken a nosedive. I have spoken to a few other people who have been in Europe as well and its trying to master that bit and getting it right because I believe a lot of it as emotion as well, coming off the back of these big nights.

“We need to start winning games in the league. We need to stay in the fight there. As an Aberdeen manager you need to win games. Forget the fact that we’re challenging in the Conference League and all these things. We’re up fighting where we want to be, we’ve still got to try and stay in the fight in the league and that’s what we need to try and do. We need to try and put a performance on. If we get the performances and hopefully that brings the results.”
