Manager Barry Robson spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s trip to Edinburgh to take on Hearts at Tynecastle Park. RedTV subscribers can watch in full now.
“I think what we do is we take each game as it comes. That’s what we’ve been doing as we have went along. It’s a fantastic game to go and play in. I loved going down there as a player. The boys are really excited, they are looking forward to it. It is always a full house. We will have a good set of fans down there. It is one I’m really looking forward to.
“I think that Aberdeen v Hearts matches are always pretty close games. As I said, we look forward to it and it is a game that we want to go and win. We know it’s a very difficult game. With our fans down there behind us, it gives us a real opportunity. Its a game that we look at in isolation just like every other game. As I said to the players go out and enjoy it, it’s a great atmosphere to go and play in.
“They can score goals, they have Lawrence Shankland up front. I watched Ross County down there and they played very well. Dundee played very well in the first-half. We’ve got a good squad and players that can create chances and score goals as well. We’re also mindful that we need to keep a clean sheet and try and defend well. If you defend well it gives you a good platform to go and attack.
“Rubi won’t be available tomorrow and we’ve got him in for some scans. We’re waiting to see what the outcome will be. We don’t know exactly what its going to be yet, it will be a few days until we find out where he is at. It’s unfortunate he is out of the game tomorrow because he’s really been coming onto a game and he’s improved in every game. He’s got a real bright future ahead of him. We’ll see how he is but we can’t comment on how long it will be.
“The biggest problem that we have had this season has been consistency. We all know that. We’ve tried to get a bit better over the last six games, we’ve got a bit more consistentcy which has been good. I think we have won four, drawn one and lost one. We need to improve all the time. We need to try and evolve the team and we need to try and make sure that we keep winning games because the demands at this club is you do win games and that’s what we’re trying to do. We are trying to put performances in to get results and as I said what a brilliant place to go and play is Tynecastle.
“You always believe. As I said to the players, they are terrific boys and they want to do well. They want to work hard and if you can put together that consistency that we’re looking for and trying to work on. There’s no reason why you can’t go on a run and that’s where we want to get to and every team will be thinking the same. As I said it’s been that positive team and working for each other, running hard for the club, all these basics we need to do well.
“I think when you’re 1-0 up, at that time in the game with about 10 minutes to go, as I said after the game, it was the game management we had to do a bit better in. We need to have that game management, get your structure right. That was the part that annoyed me most of all. It annoyed the players as well. We should have really been coming away with a 1-0 result. Its a difficult place to go, a difficult pitch and they are a well organised structured team. When we went on our run last year, we were very good at it. We know we need to do that.
“We have got games in hand but you need to win them. It’s about taking a game in insolation and trying to win that game. We’re trying to win every game that we play. That’s our focus at the minute and when you do that you can start to hopefully go on a run.”
