Barry Robson spoke to the media at Cormack Park on Wednesday to look ahead to our first home match of the 23/24 season. RedTV subscribers can watch in full through the video above.

“The first positive from Saturday’s game with Livingston was the fans, I thought that they were outstanding, 4,200 of them were there. The second positive was there were no injuries on that pitch. The third positive was the clean sheet and we move on and we go from there. There are a few things we will get a wee bit better at, but it’s a hard game at Livingston so they are the positive things that we took from the game.”

“Sunday will be difficult. They had Ange Postecoglou there who was a terrific manager and then Brendan Rodgers comes in who is another terrific manager. He’s been there before been and has been very successful. We know it’s a difficult game. We know the way that Brendan likes to play, he likes to rotate and likes to move players about. He wants to bring energy to the game. All the things we know and we expect. It’s going to be a tough game, but we’re looking forward to it and hopefully we can have a full house there again, and they can help us along the way.”

“It’s a really good time for the club. The club is built on European football and we haven’t been in the group stages since Jimmy Calderwood was manager which was 16/17 years ago, and then before that it was maybe 15-20 years ago. Another thing it is very difficult. You’re coming up against teams who have much bigger budgets. That’s hard but its exciting for the fans and it is exciting for the city. It’s exciting for the club and we need to try and perform as well as we can but we also need to remember that the league is our bread and butter. We need to make sure that we work accordingly to make sure that we keep ourselves in that fight and staying up the league as high as we can. We also need to get it right on rotation with the players but we also need to perform in both competitions.

“I’ve said it many a time, our supporters are what helps us and if we perform and we work and we run for them and we’re committed they will come with you. They are brilliant like that. But if you don’t, and you don’t perform your best, and you don’t give 100% they won’t come with you and I think that’s fair. I’ve always said that, and the fans will accept that as well. We can’t always play brilliantly well, but we can always give 100% and if you do that, our fans will come with you.”
