Barry Robson was blunt in his assessment of Aberdeen’s heavy defeat at Celtic Park this afternoon.

“We know we played a big game in Greece on Thursday night, but I’m not having that as an excuse. We can’t come here and perform like that, and I’m not having that either.

“The first 15 minutes we weren’t at it, never got close to anyone, never put a tackle in. As the half went on, we got slightly better, and at half-time, we tweaked a few things and started to look a lot better.

“Then we lost the penalty and after that, Celtic ran away with it. That’s not good enough. Once you lose that third goal, you’ve got to stay in the fight. We were too open, they looked like they could score at any time.

“We have to learn you can’t do that, especially in an arena like this. You’ve got to stick together as a team, slow the game down, get close to each other, you can’t go chasing it, you have to be structured and communicate and we never did any of those things.

“I’m massively surprised, it’s a result I never saw coming. I’m just angry because that’s not us as a team. Celtic were very good today, but we didn’t help ourselves, we looked exposed. We’ve got some experienced players on the pitch, you’ve got to pull everyone in, do not lose another goal at 3-0, but we didn’t do that. You cannot lose goals like that. It isn’t good enough. It’s all of us, we all take this hit together.”
