Alexander Briedl will join Aberdeen this summer.
The former Austria Under-21 international will officially become a Dons player on a two-year contract when his current deal expires, subject to international clearance and a UK visa.
The 24-year-old arrives after an impressive spell in his native Austria, where he established himself as an energetic and influential defensive midfielder.
After completing his pre-contract paperwork, Briedl spoke of his excitement about signing for the Club.
He said: “It feels amazing to be signing for Aberdeen.
“Everything happened very fast after I heard about the interest about two or three weeks ago. Of course, I knew about Aberdeen because they are one of the biggest Club’s in Scotland.
“I’ve watched some games; I know it’s physical here in Scotland and I am looking forward to challenging myself in a new league. I would say that I am good with the ball, technical player who can also press and win the ball.
“The manager directly welcomed me, and he told me about his vision for the Club. I want to help the team reach our goals.
“I know the fans are very passionate here and I am looking forward to meeting them soon at Pittodrie”.
Alex came through the youth system at FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria before beginning his professional career with FC Leifering and then SV Horn. He then continued to develop his game at senior level at Blau-Weiss Linz after a move in 2020, earning praise for his versatility and consistency.
Despite his age Alex arrives in Scotland with a good deal of experience under his belt and Dons boss Stephen Robinson was delighted to secure the young talented Austrian.
