“We've only had a couple of competitive games, the first one here at home, it took us a while to get going. We ended up drawing the game but we needed those 90 minutes, to come out of that pre-season mode and into competitve games. and having had those 90 minutes behind us helped in Bosnia. We put in a proper performance last week and we bring that confidence into this week's game.
“Whenever you come back in from pre-season, it was not a proper pre-season when you have to go straight into European games. You have to try and get up to speed as quickly as you can. normally, in pre-season we have four to five weeks until the start of the domestic seasons. We had to get up to it as soon as we could and as we said we needed those 90 minutes here, before we could kick on, which we did in Bosnia.
“Hopefully, we're rearing to go for tomorrow's night.
“The new boys have all looked great since coming in, nobody is looking out of place. When I signed, the lads made me feel part of the team straight away, nothing has changed. It is a great dressing room.
“As you saw last week, Gary and Greg both chipped in with goals and Ryan Christie provided two assists after scoring in the first leg. Ryan was here last season, but they are still three new players who have contributed massively. Everyone is gelling together and hopefully you'll see more in the weeks to come.
“It's always important when you play at home, if you're not going to win the tie it is important that you don't go in and lose it by conceding (soft goals as you push forward), otherwise it's an uphill battle away.
“This is a massive club, we're we want to go in and win every game. We have a lot of respect for our opponents as any team at this level will be decent.
“That Europa league spot is galvanising every player to play well and everyone is pushing each other harder in training to go out and win the game tomorrow night.
“Every game is going to be tough and I go into every game aiming to play my best whoever we are playing. I’m sure all the lads are the same. We have seen the videos of the other team and they look more than capable. They've got good technical players, as do we. It's going to be a good game.
“Playing for this club, you're expected to go and win every game and that's what we will try and do tomorrow night.
“Of course we want to push on and get to the Europa League but we also know how tough that will be. Everyone is working very hard at the club to try and do well in this competition.
“It's definitely realistic, Irish side Dundalk for example got there last season after doing brilliantly. As a player you want to compete against the best players you possibly can.
“For the away leg, it's going to be a football match no matter the weather. They are probably not used to playing in the rain as we're not used playing in hot weather. No matter what, it is going to be a difficult game out there. As will the game at Pittodrie be tomorrow night.
“Last season, I just signed a week from the first qualifying round so it was hard for me to get into the team straight away. Watching from the sidelines I was absorbing everything like a sponge from the games. I also went to Maribor last season, we were unlucky there as Adam Rooney missed a penalty and we conceded a bizarre goal. That was a game we should have won and got through. But these kind of experiences will hopeful help me and all the performances of the boys.
“Everyone is trying to get into the team. If you have the shirt, you must try and keep hold of it, if you're not in the team, you try and get into it. We've lost some important players over the summer. That means, we have had the chance to get in some new players and as I say nobody has looked out of place since joining. Gary Mackay-Steven, Greg Stewart and Tansey, everyone looked like Aberdeen players. Everyone over the course of the season will have their bit to play and hopefully, we will have a great season.”
