Defender Angus MacDonald was the player put up the media for the press preview ahead of Wednesday’s cinch Premiership game against St Mirren.
“The last two performances, we have not been our best. I think if you look at the Hibs game, we managed to come away with a massive point from a game where we did not create many chances. The Hearts game was difficult, we had a couple of injuries, and I was battling illness. We still had chances in the game, but probably not enough, not as many clear-cut chances as we would have liked.
“Everyone is fighting fit and ready to go and get the three points hopefully on Wednesday night. I am feeling ok now.
“I think four months ago we were nine points off third. And now we are two points clear, it is a big achievement, but the last two results have not been what we wanted and hopefully we can put that right on Wednesday and can get the job done.
“For the fans, for the club, for the city – it will be a massive achievement for everyone if we can get there. All we can do is our job, and hopefully that will be enough.
“We have experienced players who can help us in these occasions. You have Kelle, Jonny, Graeme coming back in, myself. But even some of the younger lads, they have played a lot of football, they have been around the club and experienced pressure. If you want to go to the highest level, you have to handle that pressure.
“Having the three players back is important, when you look at the winning run we went on, they all played an important part. But everyone in the squad will have a role to play tomorrow night.
“It is going to be a fight. We have to win the fight first. And if we do that and then win the second balls, hopefully we can then bring our quality to the game. The last time we played St Mirren, it was my first game and Ross got sent off after four minutes. Which was far from ideal. A lot has happened since then. It is a different situation. We know the importance of the game and what the outcome could be for us on Wednesday night. We will be right up for the battle.
“The fans I am sure realise how big an impact they have made over the past few months. The Rangers game for example, when Scales puts one in the top corner, the place erupts and we then go on and get a second one. They really do make a difference for us out there. In the 80th minute, sometimes you need a pick-me-up and the fans really are the 12th man. They have been through the good and bad this season. It would be great to get the win for them.”
