Dons supporters were delighted to see Aberdeen defeat Hamilton Accies 3-0 on Sunday with a dominant performance at Pittodrie. With the action on the pitch taking centre stage here are some of the activities that took place on matchday that you might not have seen.
An early start didn’t stop over 30 young Dons attending AFCCT’s Junior Matchday Club. Before heading to the game these fans aged 5 – 12 enjoyed 1 hour of football at Aberdeen Sports Village. The young fans then cheered the team on from the 1st to the last minute at Pittodrie. At half time AFC & AFCCT welcomed 4 of the schools from AFCCT Primary Schools Football onto the pitch. Players from Brimmond, Kingswells, Airyhall and Cornhill took part in 4v4 matches during the break. AFCCT currently run Primary Schools Football with over 200 teams playing fixtures on a Saturday morning in line with the national player pathway under the AFCCT brand. It was Ladies day in the Aberdeen Asset Management Suite on Sunday. AFCCT is the event charity partner for two VIP days during the season, on this occasion the joint charity partner organisation was Cornerstone. Proceeds from the fundraising on the day will be split between the two charities Staff, Volunteers & Donny from AFCCT were again in the RDS prior to kick off to speak to fans and promote the work that AFCCT are doing. “This is a great chance to speak to fans and let them know more about what the Club and the Trust are doing. We really would encourage all fans of all ages to come and say hello next time and find out more.”
Many of the teams from AFCCT Primary Schools Football were also recipients of Supported Season Tickets for Sunday's match. Dozens of youngsters from local schools attended the game and enjoyed seeing three goals at the Merkland end.
Aberdeen FC Under 10s also took to the pitch at half time having just returned from the Landsmeer European Academy Tournament in Holland Our young players had a very respectable top ten finish and the boys enjoyed a fantastic trip.
