AFC Women Announce Summer Changes

Aberdeen Badge

Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 SWPL season, the Club can confirm several changes both on and off the field.

Scott Booth will be stepping down from his role as AFC Women’s manager. Scott leaves having secured the club’s SWPL1 status with an emphatic 5-0 win over Queen’s Park in the play-offs.

As a result, the Club will now be seeking to recruit a new Head of Women’s and Girls Football who will lead on all aspects of the Women and Girls football programme, from the Girls Academy to the Women’s first team.

Several changes to the playing squad are also now underway as AFC Women looks to reshape the squad ahead of the 2026/27 season. This will include a combination of player departures, targeted recruitment and increased integration of emerging talent.

The Club is committed to building a balanced squad, reinforcing a pathway for Academy graduates into professional football, whilst adding the quality required to be competitive.

Commenting on the changes, Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel said:

“We would like to extend our thanks to Scott for the dedication and experience he brought to the role during his time at AFC Women. We are grateful for his efforts and wish him every success in the next stage of his career.

“Our thanks also go to the players who are departing, notably our Captain Hannah Stewart, and Vice-Captain, Francesca Ogilvie. Hannah, who made over 140 appearances for the Reds made history when she captained the side in the Scottish Cup Semi-final at Hampden against Rangers, becoming the first Dons women’s captain to lead the side out at the National Stadium.

“Francesca, who became one of the first players to sign on semi pro terms in 2022, holds the title of the Club’s all-time appearance holder featuring 195 times for Aberdeen, scoring 65 goals.”

AFC Women remains focused on progress and sustainability, and the Club is confident that this period of transition will lay the foundations for future success both on and off the pitch.

The continued support of fans, our much-valued AFC Women partners and the wider community remain central to AFC Women’s continued journey.
