. We recognise our unique standing in the local community and appreciate the importance of giving something back as we actively engage with the local communities that support and sustain the club.

Here is a small taster of the recent activity that various representatives of the football club have undertaken recently in our efforts to interact with our local community.

Aberdeen FC recently donated old training kit for a recent visit to Kenya. Children from Kangaru Boys School in Embu and Kagamori Secondary School can be seen in the pictures below with their new strips. One boy from the group has been selected into a team of 18 boys who will travel to Manchester in August for a training camp.

On Monday 12th August AFC in the Community kicked off a week of FREE FOOTBALL for local children this summer thanks to a generous new partnership with Aberdeen International Airport Community Panel.

Up to 500 children, aged between 5 and 12 years old, were given the opportunity to participate in a day of football activity across five City venues, including Northfield, Bucksburn, Torry, Seaton and Tillydrone during week 6 of the AFC Summer Holiday Programme. Several players attended the sessions including Jonny Hayes, Josh Magennis, Andy Considine, Scott Vernon, Cammy Smith and Clark Robertson.

Craig Brown was a guest at Tartan Day with the Lord Provost, John McRuvie and Lenny and Jimmy from River City. They enjoyed the Premier of Aberdeen’s Forgotten Diva, Mary Garden, enacted and sang by Michelle Bruce and the Story of William Wallace at the Wallace Statue.

The AFC Former Players Golf tournament at Royal Deeside, held on the 1st August, was won by Brian Russell and George Arnold of Riverside Construction with Ryan Collins and former Don, Willie Gardner in their team. In attendance at the excellent event organised by Duncan Davidson were many Aberdeen FC employees or ex-employees such as David Johnstone, Ally Shewan, Joe Harper, Walker McCall, Jocky Scott, John Hewitt, George Yule, Doc Gray, and Craig Brown who won the longest drive competition.

Angus the Bull went along to a Barnardos Fundraiser at their shop on Union Street as well a fundraising event for North East Sensory Services.
