During last term AFC in the Community coaches Rob Fearn and Stephen Boddie were busy delivering the Food Standards Agency school visit programme in the Peterhead and Fraserburgh Area. The 6 week programme consists of short fun based football coaching sessions, however the coaches also introduce key messages on Healthy Activity, Nutrition and Food Hygiene. The FSA provide all the pupils and class teachers with a Mission book to work through so they can learn more about leading a Healthy Lifestyle. Over 300 Primary 4 and 5 pupils took part.

“The children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this project and have all gained a better knowledge of how to lead a healthier lifestyle. They particularly enjoyed the football sessions with Rob. Even those with no interest in Football enjoyed the activities and learning new skills.” Kimberley Stephen, St. Andrews P4/5

“A super resource that is very well organised. The children have thoroughly enjoyed football sessions as well as completing the mission book activities.” Lynne Dick, Lochpots Primary 5.

Special thanks to Caitlin Dudley and Paul Winter from Aberdeenshire Active Schools for their help with organising the programme.

Several members of the first team visited the participants of AFC in the Community’s October Holiday Programme to chat to the youngsters and sign some autographs.
