Aberdeen Football Club is this evening honoured to announce Sir Alex Ferguson has formally been inducted into the AFC Hall of Fame.

The Club has officially recognised the man who transformed the Dons from the provincial outfit to a team universally known throughout the footballing world.

Sir Alex Ferguson is rightly regarded as arguably the world’s best ever football manager and what he achieved with Aberdeen, both domestically and in Europe, with very much a home grown group of young players, was nothing short of remarkable.

Aberdeen FC Chairman, Stewart Milne, presented Sir Alex Ferguson with his award at the prestigious Hall of Fame Dinner at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa as 360 guests joined the Club to celebrate this special occasion.

The Club has been lucky to witness many players light up the Pittodrie pitch over the years and with a number of those still to be honoured, the AFC Hall of Fame will now become an annual event.

In the coming months we will give the Red Army the chance to nominate the Dons legends they believe should have a permanent place in the great history of our club as we look forward to the 2016 event.
