On Tuesday 25th November, the same day as AFCCT’s first ever Fundraising Dinner, Aberdeen FC and Aberdeen FC Community Trust received the ‘Friend of the Third Sector’ award at the Aberdeen Impact Awards.
The award organisers, Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations, exist to support voluntary and non-profit making organisations based in Aberdeen city.
Aberdeen FC were nominated for the ‘Friend Of the Third Sector’ award as ACVO recognised the excellent work being done by Aberdeen FC Community Trust, and how the partnership between the club and the charity has been vital in helping support people in the North East of Scotland.
Programmes are being delivered to people from all over the North East, helping young and old, men and women, through different wellbeing activities such as football, walks, TechnoGym, weight loss programmes, family support and mental health sessions to name just a few.
This community award is the first AFC Community Trust has received since its creation earlier this year, and it is hoped it is the first of many such awards. The backing of Aberdeen Football Club will always be an essential aspect of the Community Trust reaching out to and supporting our local communities.
