Aberdeen FC celebrate a major milestone this week as the club’s innovative and industry leading AberDNA Membership initiative has officially surpassed 10,000 members contributing to the Football Operation.
The milestone reflects a period of strong growth in the club’s membership, with over 2,000 Members joining in the last 12 months. The rise demonstrates both the loyalty of long-standing fans and the enthusiasm of a new generation of Aberdeen supporters eager to back the club’s ambitions.
The Membership was setup with the goal of bringing supporters closer to the Club they love. Since March 2018, thousands of Members have taken part in exclusive events, won incredible prizes – including the opportunity to step out onto the hallowed Pittodrie Pitch – and gained exclusive behind-the-scenes access on matchdays and beyond, with a huge focus on engaging the next generation of the Red Army through matchday initiatives for younger fans.
Supporting the Football Operation
In addition to receiving these fantastic benefits, AberDNA continues to play a crucial role in strengthening Football Operations across the club. Since its launch, Members have contributed directly towards first-team development, academy investment, and key football infrastructure, giving the club greater stability as it looks to grow sustainably.
The investment in the AFC Youth Academy has been particularly noticeable in recent months with the introduction of Dylan Lobban, alongside Jack Milne, to the First Team as the latest Youth Academy Graduate to represent the Dons.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Memberships Manager, Neil Halliwell, emphasised the difference the Membership makes behind the scenes:

A Global Red Army
One of the standout aspects of hitting 10,000 members is the reach of the support. AberDNA members now come from 41 countries worldwide, as well as every part of the north-east. The Membership captures the spirit of a club whose identity is rooted locally but supported far beyond home.
Family support continues to be a defining feature too, with multiple generations of supporters signing up together and strengthening long-held traditions of backing the Dons from an early age.
What is AberDNA?
AberDNA is a membership initiative which aims to capture the imagination of not only local, but national and international supporters. Unlike season tickets or other memberships, all profits from AberDNA will be used exclusively to support the Football Operation.
In return for your support of the Football Operation, via a monthly or annual payment plan, supporters can join one of eight different membership categories and in return will receive a range of benefits, including a replica shirt, souvenir gift packs and the ability to earn Dons Cash on season tickets and club merchandise, which can then be used to save money across the club.
