Striker moves to MLS side, Columbus Crew, for undisclosed fee

Aberdeen FC today confirms it has accepted an offer for an undisclosed fee from MLS side Columbus Crew for striker Christian Ramirez.

The American International joined the Club in the summer of 2021 on a two-year deal.

Making an instant impact at Pittodrie, Christian scored on his debut against BK Hacken in July 2021 and has since made 60 appearances for the Dons, scoring 18 goals.

With Christian keen to ensure more regular game time, manager Jim Goodwin believes the chance to move closer to home back in the US, for the start of the 2023 Major League Soccer season, is one which suits both the player and the Club.

He added: “At his age Christian wants to go and play regular first team football and the opportunity to return closer to home meant this was a prospect he was eager to pursue.

“There is no doubt Christian had a positive impact during his time at Pittodrie and I thank him for his efforts.”

Following his departure, Christian was keen to express his gratitude to the Club and the Red Army.

He said: “I want to thank everyone in Aberdeen, the fantastic supporters and those behind the scenes at AFC, for allowing me to be part of such a historic Club.

“I wish everyone connected with the Dons the best of luck in the coming years, which I hope will be filled with great success.”

Everyone at AFC wishes Christian and his family all the very best for the future.
