As the Dons prepare to welcome Rangers to Pittodrie tonight, supporters will notice a brighter outlook with newly installed floodlights in the South Stand.

This £100,000 investment was necessary due to the age of the old floodlights and will make a significant difference to the stadium as the Club works hard to make Pittodrie more sustainable.

The Club has set a target of reducing emissions by 50% by 2030 and recently added its signature to the UN Sports for Climate Change framework, underlining its intent to become carbon neutral.

“The LED lights are energy saving and more sustainable than the previous ones and they will also increase Lux levels in line with UEFA requirements”, said Aberdeen FC Head of Operations, Paul Hendry.

He added, “This is a substantial investment for the Club, but it is one which we believe is necessary as we continue to make essential improvements to Pittodrie, but we have also taken measures to future proof the new floodlights with an eye on a move to a new stadium in the future.”
