Hall of Fame 2022 | Wednesday 23rd November
This event is now sold out!
After an enforced absence due to COVID we are excited to announce that the AFC Hall of Fame dinner will return for 2022 as we induct some more Dons legends on Wednesday 23rd November at The Chester Hotel.
In the 2019 edition of the Hall of Fame, Theo Snelders, David Halliday, Doug Rougvie, Eric Black, Gordon Strachan and Mark McGhee were inducted and this time round four more AFC greats will join them.
Our inductees for the 2022 edition of the AFC Hall of Fame, sponsored by Scott James & Associates, include Duncan Shearer, Dougie Bell, Russell Anderson and Davie Robb.
’90s icon Duncan Shearer was the first inductee to be announced, making an instant impact at Pittodrie netting twice on his debut in a 3-0 win over Hibernian, Duncan would go on to make 194 appearances scoring 79 goals.
Shearer’s most memorable moment as a Dons player was as part of the side which won the 1995 League Cup, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 victory over Dundee at Hampden Park.
One of Sir Alex Ferguson’s most influential signings, Dougie Bell, will be joining Shearer in the ceremony at The Chester Hotel.
Signed on a free from St Mirren in 1979, Bell went on to become a vital part of the Aberdeen success in Europe throughout the early ‘80s. Over the course of a six year spell at Pittodrie Bell made 185 appearances scoring 14 goals and picking up plenty of silverware along the way, winning three League titles and two Scottish Cup’s in addition to playing his part in European Cup Winners’ Cup and Super Cup successes in 1983.
Our third inductee is Aberdeen born Russell Anderson who fulfilled the dreams of all Dons supporters by going on to play for the side he supported, making his debut in 1997 before going on to make 407 appearances over two spells at Pittodrie scoring 21 goals.
Fittingly before his retirement at the end of the 2014-15 season Anderson captained his boyhood club to silverware as Aberdeen won the 2014 League Cup.
The late Davie Robb will be inducted posthumously and will be the fourth and final inductee for 2022. Affectionately known as ‘The Brush’ by Dons supporters, Robb was a firm favourite at Pittodrie, making 345 appearances and scoring 98 goals between 1967 and 1978.
Under the leadership of Eddie Turnbull, Robb established himself as a regular in the side and played his part as Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup in 1970. International recognition soon followed too, making 5 appearances for Scotland during 1971.His most memorable moment in red would come in 1976 as he picked up his second trophy, scoring the winning goal in the League Cup Final victory over Celtic.
The evening will yet again be a memorable occasion for Dons supporters, sponsors and partners alike, including a 3 course meal with wine included and a Q & A session with our inductees. Places for the event are priced at £119+VAT per person.
