After an enforced absence due to COVID we are excited to announce that the AFC Hall of Fame dinner will return for 2022 as we induct some more Dons legends on Wednesday 23rd November at The Chester Hotel.

In the 2019 edition of the Hall of Fame, Theo Snelders, David Halliday, Doug Rougvie, Eric Black, Gordon Strachan and Mark McGhee were inducted and this time round four more AFC greats will join them.

We can reveal that the first of those to be taking their place in the Hall of Fame this year will be ‘90s icon Duncan Shearer!

Signed from Blackburn in 1992 by Willie Miller for a fee of £500,000, Shearer made an instant impact at Pittodrie netting twice on his debut in a 3-0 win over Hibernian.

The sight of the prolific striker wheeling away in celebration would become a very familiar one for the Red Army over a five year spell at Pittodrie where Duncan made 194 appearances scoring 79 goals.

Shearer’s most memorable moment as a Dons player was as part of the side which won the 1995 League Cup, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 victory over Dundee at Hampden Park.

His goalscoring form as a Red also led to richly deserved international recognition where he made 7 appearances for his country, playing his part as Scotland qualified for Euro 96.

Over the next few weeks, we will be announcing more AFC greats who will be inducted on the night.

The evening will yet again be a memorable occasion for Dons supporters, sponsors and partners alike, including a 3 course meal with wine included and a Q & A session with our inductees. Places for the event are priced at £119+VAT per person
