Funso Ojo spoke to the media team on Tuesday to preview the Kilmarnock game. The midfielder returned to the side on Saturday night after picking up his injury late on against Celtic:

“The weird thing with my injury I picked up against Celtic was that it was classed as an injury, but it didn’t feel like one. It was a cut that needed to be stitched up, but it was restricting me bending my knee. It didn’t feel like an injury even though I couldn’t have played a game because I couldn’t run properly.

“I don’t think Joe has apologised for it! Maybe he has something against me!

“I am happy to be back for this part of the season. This is the showtime. We are getting closer to the end so every game is important.

“I feel like a lot of people are happy to have reached the semi-finals, but it is only the semi-finals.

“We want to aim for the final and we can be properly happy if then we go onto win it. For me being in the semi-finals is not a victory yet.

“The away game we had at Celtic; it was a good performance from us. We played well against them as well when we played them at home recently. That was a good performance.

“So I believe we are getting closer to beating them, hopefully that can be the case in the semi-final.

“It would be great to win a trophy with Aberdeen. I would have to keep my apartment here in Aberdeen for the rest of my life!

“Life in Aberdeen is good. I am happy to drive into training everyday and I am happy when I am driving home so I can go and do other things around the city.

“I feel this is my peak time. I am at a good age.

“Before my injury, I felt so strong, I was doing extra work every day, with no days off and maybe that caught up with me and hence why I picked up my injury earlier on in the season.

“I have learnt from that. I am 28 now, I am still learning and next season we will keep building.

“I hope as a team we can stay together, and good things can happen.

“I feel pretty confident in my space. We have competition for spaces in midfield and we are always learning off of each other in training. It is good that we have more midfielders now so we can look at how each other plays and learn off of that.

“I am my biggest critic. I always try to compete with myself from the previous day and try to better myself.”
