28 March 2019
Author AFC Media Team

the following notes were provided for supporters after today’s pre-ops meeting between the clubs:

Traffic

Aberdeen supporters attending the match should make regular checks with Traffic Scotland if they are travelling by road. They should also listen to traffic updates on the radio.

There is a Heineken Champions Cup Quarter Final Rugby Game between Edinburgh and Munster which kicks off at Murrayfield at 12.45pm.

An estimated crowd of 30,000 are expected with a reasonable number staying on to watch a later match on screens/televisions. This will impact on Aberdeen supporters on their arrival in the area.

Parking

Aberdeen supporter’s coaches and mini buses can park on Russell Road, if available. An area of Corstorphine Road has also been identified for AFC Coaches. Corstorphine Road will be marshalled by Crexcell Traffic Marshals whilst Roseburn Street is closed at the end of the Rugby. After the road closure is reopened by Crexwell Operatives, the coaches will be moved to their normal parking on Russell Road. Drivers will need to stay with their coaches until parked in Russell Road.

The worst scenario may be that buses will have to drop off and drive away and return to park once the Rugby supporters are clear of the area. Passengers should ensure that they are aware of the pick-up point for their bus. Arrangements have been agreed for the AFC Disabled Supporters Club for drop off and pick up.

Car parking in the area is restricted, so please consider public transport into the area or at least car share.

Entry

All supporters are to be reminded that McLeod Street will be completely closed to vehicles from one hour before kick-off and 30 minutes after the match with no exceptions.

Supporters will be encouraged to go left (North) along McLeod Street at the end of the match.

The Disabled Supporters Association Coach must drop off at the away turnstiles before the road closure on McLeod Street. It will leave and return before the end of the game and park up as directed by Stewards on Russell Road and return once it is safe to do so.

Aberdeen supporters will be accommodated in the East side of the Roseburn Stand. The away allocation for Aberdeen supporters is sold out PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND WITHOUT A TICKET. THERE ARE NO CASH GATES.

Turnstiles open at 2pm. 6 turnstiles will be used for this area. Tickets are for ALLOCATED seating. Supporters are kindly asked to sit in their designated seat and not to congregate on the concourse or in the vomitories.

There are plenty of bars in the local area, but they will be busy due to the rugby. Please note that you may not be permitted entry to the stadium if you are believed to be drunk. Don’t miss the game. Please expect to be searched before entry. This is normal practice and supporters will be familiar with such requests by Stewards and Police.

No smoking of cigarettes or E-cigs is permitted. Prolonged standing can become a safety problem, please abide by any direction given by stewards.

Flags must conform to relevant fire regulations. Flags must not be offensive. No flags with a pole in excess of 1m will be permitted. There will be no space for individual flags to be draped over seating areas as we have sold out this section. Please be directed by stewards on these matters. The Stadium Safety Team will have the final say as to whether a flag is permitted into the stadium. Whilst till rolls have not been a recent feature, Hearts request that they are not brought in and thrown.

Important crowd safety notice

The throwing of various items has been prevalent at recent games throughout the county. Coins and any other items can cause serious injury.

Clubs are concentrating their CCTV on high risk areas and have been successful in assisting the Police detect offenders.

Please don’t be the next person.

Strictly no pyrotechnics and that includes outside the stadium. Do not enter the trackside or field of play unless instructed to do so in an emergency.

Heart of Midlothian FC operate the same rules on unacceptable behaviour as all other clubs in the SPFL. Please read the information on the Hearts website and on the back of your ticket for further details. If you witness any unacceptable behaviour from any supporter, please report it to stewards or police at the time. This can help defuse situations quickly and reduces the need for lengthy enquiry after the event.

Finally – from everyone at AFC, thanks for your great support and enjoy your trip to Edinburgh this weekend. COYR! Let’s keep our away form going.
