The Manager | Weekly Press Conference
The Manager spoke to the press on Thursday to preview the game against Celtic on Saturday. He started by giving an fitness update:
“We all accept as a manger that you are going to have to contend with injuries throughout the season but we have had to contend with more than our fair share, it just doesn’t seem to be the normal two to three week injuries that you normally get.
“Fraser is one that we brought in to try and help us in those forward areas. His performance in the second half at Celtic Park and the way he started against Kilmarnock was a flavour of what we were going to get from him.
“We now have to do without Fraser for the next wee while, but we can’t sit back and feel sorry for ourselves. We have got to now try and contend with that and concentrate on the players that we do have available to us. Hopefully Fraser can get back before too long. It is a blow, and you can’t dress it up any other way.
“We will get him reimaged in a couple of weeks’ times. The length of the tear that he has got, and the scan suggest that he will be out for a long time. When you listen to the player, he is actually feeling better than the scans suggests. Scans have been wrong in the past and we just hope that they are wrong this time and we can get him back a bit quicker.
“The game will probably come too quickly for Jonny; we have not been able to get him on the grass yet.
“Young Mikey Ruth who we brought back from Arbroath, has in the last couple of weeks had bronchitis which developed into glandular fever and he has been in and out of hospital. He has had rough time of it. He comes off his antibiotics this weekend and will hopefully be back into training next week.”
