Aberdeen Women are in Scottish Cup action this Sunday as they host Spartans at the Balmoral Stadium. The Dons go into the game off the back of an impressive victory over Hibs last Sunday. Defender Donna Paterson previewed the game on RedTV. To watch in full, please click on the red button.

“Sunday’s victory over Hibs was massive. It probably came as a bit of a surprise going off of the previous games we have had with Hibs, we have always been close but never quite been able to win. We competed well on Sunday. We took advantage of the weather conditions in the first half and defended well in the second half to get to the win. It was a massive three points for us and it puts us in good stead for this Sunday’s game.

“Getting a clean sheet means more to me than scoring! From the two strikers up top, all the way back to the goal keeper, we defended brilliantly, especially in the second half with the wind and Hibs coming at us. It was a good performance.

“Winning helps your confidence massively. We were in a bit of a sticky patch just before Christmas. Everyone is happier and we are gelling more and more each week. The bond we are creating is great. Hopefully we can push forward and push on Sunday to get through to the next round of the cup.

“There is no pressure in the cup. Everyone wants to go as far as they can. Spartans have been established for a good few years now. We see ourselves as the underdogs a wee bit. There is nothing that fazes us, we will go in for the win.

“Our game with Spartans earlier this year was a game of two halves. Our first half performance was pretty good, we were 2-0 up. At half time we maybe got a bit complacent and thought it was a win. Spartans came out fighting and we were a bit slower. We let them get back into the game. We have learnt a few lessons from the game. It will be good to see if we can get the win this time.”
