“You have to show character when you go down to ten men and we had that.

“We needed to show a reaction from last weekend. It was difficult though with some of the decisions that went against us as they changed the course of the game.

“I thought the penalty was incredibly soft. Referees are told to give them but f he does not give it, I don’t think there would be many complaints. I don’t think anyone would say anything. But he has, and the boy has put it away. It was a blow just before half-time, having to come in level because I thought we had done well and battled away. Although they have had more shots from an angle or from distance, I thought our general play was better. It was still not free flowing and as good as it can be, but it was better.

“Then in the second half when Fergie goes off it becomes about the determination not to concede again.

“There was a spell though when Edmondson came on, with ten minutes or so to go where he has looked after the ball well and we have got up the pitch and we had one or two opportunities. Their keeper has made a decent save from Ryan down to his right. That was the only real spell of doing that. The rest of the time was about keeping the ball out of the net. We rode our luck at times, especially in the final minute when Andy got back on the line and got his body in the way to keep it out. So we are grateful for that.

“For the red card, Fergie got an arm in the face first and even then the tackle which followed I did not think merited a yellow card. We can grumble about that, but we come away with a point and look to go again next weekend.

“A lot of credit has to go to Ross McCrorie. He has come down here after having two weeks where he is sat at home. There is only so much work you can do when you cannot leave your front door. To come in and put in a shift like that for 90 minutes, of which 40 odd minutes was when we were down to ten men, was a great effort. He will be better next week for having had those minutes in his legs. Unfortunately we will be without Lewis as we can’t appeal a yellow card so that is disappointing. But Ross did well and we also have Connor to come back in so we have players to choose from next week. We have to have a good week in training and prepare well.

“It will be nice to have a home game against Ross County next weekend. We have had a lot of games on the road recently.

“Andy moving into the top five in the AFC appearance list today is very impressive. What Andy gives you is invaluable and what he has given to this football club is incredible. He proves himself time and time again. He gives so much. My opinion is that he is not only a great ambassador for the club and a great role model for the young lads, but he is an exceptional player as well. We are lucky to have him on our side.”
