NEW DON GREG PLEASED TO MEET HIS NEW TEAMMATES

Refresh

New Dons signing Greg Leigh can’t wait for his Aberdeen career to get started.

The left-back last, who last year made sixteen appearances for NAC Breda, in which he scored once and gave three assists, met up with his new teammates in Cork.

“It’s been on the go for a while and it’s just exciting to get here and meet the lads, the manager and the staff and to get going really.

“Last season at NAC Breda didn’t quite go the way I had hoped, I was hoping for a far more positive season but it didn’t quite work out that way and all you can do is dust yourself down and pick yourself up which is what I’ve done and hopefully I’ll have a more successful season here.”

Greg follows in the footsteps of Shay Logan, being a product of the Manchester City Youth Academy but being seven years younger had never met him, “We never crossed paths but I knew his name.

“We didn’t quite play with him so I’m looking forward to doing that. Being both from Manchester and having both played in England, when I got the opportunity to talk to him and hear his story about how successful he’s been at Aberdeen, personally and on the pitch, it was a story that really inspired me to come and do the same thing.

“My conversations with the manager were really positive and productive, he has a very interesting and good approach to the game, he thinks about things a lot which is also what I like to do and when he spoke with me about what my role would be, that was something that really attracted me, he understands what kind of player I am, what kind of team he wants to build and where I would fit in and that was a major attraction to me.”
