“We were all gutted when we got into the changing room after the game.

“In the second half especially, when there were a lot of chances, we felt we could have got goals.

“It was a cheap goal to concede but I think we showed everyone we can play to that standard and can play at home because there was that question mark on that recently. From the first whistle I thought we were on the front foot. So we are very disappointed not to get a result.

“I didn’t know if I’d make it as in the days leading up to the game I didn’t have a lot of time (to recover). I have a patella tendon issue and was caught in a 50/50 against Hamilton, which wasn’t even a bad tackle to be honest, but it was just unlucky Miller caught me. The physios have been world class and it’s been long days nursing it as I just wanted to play.

“The gaffer gave me and Dom a little bit of licence as with Rangers going one up top it allowed us to get a bit tighter to our wingers. Dom’s been fantastic since he’s played right back. I was lucky enough to nick the ball off mine and play in Gary for the penalty, which he’s done really well to win. It’s a shame to see him go off and hopefully his scan’s not too bad.

“Andy and Scott were fantastic for us by dealing with Morelos. He wasn’t able to hold up the ball a lot and that was important for us because he brings a lot of their attacking players in the game. They did a really good job on him for the whole 90 minutes.

“There was what I thought an honest 50/50 from Shinnie and Arfield made a lot of the tackle for some reason and he’s decided to grab my leg back. I think a couple of their lads tried to jump on it and tried to make more of it. We know we didn’t want any players sent off in a situation like that and just tried to ignore it and get on with the game.

“With the history of the recent games we were always expecting certain situations to arise and they did. They do try get in our heads and we just try to ignore it. Last time Scott was unlucky when he got sent off and there was a couple of incidents today, but I felt we kept our composure really well.

“A lot of it comes from when the referee won’t see it and it’s hard to keep your head. If nobody else sees it then it’s just you and the guy and there were a couple of naughty tackles out there. To be fair I thought the referee was top class and dealt with the whole game really well. I thought it was a real honest performance and I thought he handled the game well.

“We all thrive off the battles. It was me and Tavernier down the one side where we were trying to get the better of each other. Scott and Andy did their job well today and the midfield’s massive in these games with Shinnie and Ferguson. Connor started in the ten position and I thought he was great. As a young lad he’s played in a lot of big games already and he’s risen to them really quickly. Cosgrove’s got us up the park really well.

“So there’s battles throughout that we wanted to win. If you win the majority of them then your in a good place. I thought today we won pretty much all of them and I thought we should have come away with the win today.

“We’ll look to the Celtic game first, but we got a clean sheet at Ibrox with ten men for large parts of the game last time we were there in December so we’ll be full of confidence and it doesn’t change the way we’re going to play.

“We should perform the way we did today at their place.”
