“My goal was a bit overdue, but I am happy to get off the mark but more importantly it is great to get the three points.

“I felt pressure from myself to get my first goal because I am playing up front. I have had chances in most of the games, but I have not been able to put one away. The win is the most important thing, but I want to kick on now and get more goals.

“I think I have won every game that I have played in at Dingwall so it is a happy ground for me. I think I scored my first goal here as well; I even remember it, it went into the bottom left corner off the post!

“We knew that Motherwell wasn’t good enough and that we had to put on a performance up here. We had to dig deep and to make sure that we were not complacent. It was a great win.

“I haven’t set myself any targets while I am here. I just want to score in every game that I play in. I just want us to win every game. I know what I contribute to the team even if I don’t score. As long as my teammates and manager are happy then I am happy.

“I think coming off the European game in Norway before the Motherwell match and having played on the astro turf where it was a tough shift was not ideal. But that is not an excuse. We got warned about not being complacent this week before hand from the gaffer, having played in a big stadium in Lisbon and then coming to Ross County. We had to make sure that we were on it from the start this week.

“You have to give every team respect, they are not going to just give you the points. We have got to make sure that we are at it and take it one game at a time and try to win every game.

“We have got a great group of lads in the dressing room and some great experienced boys who make sure that we didn’t let it slip today.

“It is a very strong squad and there is competition for places in every position. I haven’t seen Sam play, but I know he has a great goalscoring record and he is a great asset to the team.

“I have had some great experiences playing in Europe and now the Scottish Cup semi final is one really to look forward to. We have got plenty of games before that and we will cross that bridge when it comes to it.

“We have got to aim high and put a demand on ourselves.”
