Scott spoke with the media on Friday lunchtime ahead of the St Johnstone game

“The game on Sunday, although we lost and were bitterly disappointed, I thought we performed pretty well and limited Celtic to very few chances and we just didn’t carry enough of an attacking threat to get the goal we needed. We took confidence from that on the back of the disappointment and took it into Wednesday and I thought everyone was excellent on the night and even when we went down to ten men we played that well it was comfortable and we never really felt in any danger of losing. We just need to take that into the next few games that are coming thick and fast.

“Scoring the goal early definitely helped us and gave us something to hang on to. We could stay in our shape and just move side to side and if they had the ball it wasn’t a problem for us as long as we kept in front. I thought everyone worked hard to ensure that happened and ultimately that’s what won us the game keeping the clean sheet.

“I don’t want to see anyone get sent off and he’d already been booked (Lafferty) and it’s a pure accident. He’s got his elbow up and it’s caught me and I’m sure I’ve done that to a few people in my time. I’ve no complaints and he apologised to me after the game so it’s not a problem. It’s just football and these things happen and it’s forgotten about now.

“St Johnstone will be very high in confidence and winning five out of seven games and it’s a great run. I think they kept a new clean sheet record for their club and they’ll be full of confidence and it’ll be up to us to try and break them down and get the goals.

“It’s happened the last couple of transfer windows (speculation) and it’s more normal and easier for me to put to the back of my mind and concentrate on playing for Aberdeen. I’m sure that’s what I’ll do in January again.

“The manager will pick the team that he thinks is capable of winning the game and there will be a couple of new boys coming in. It’ll be up to them to perform well enough and keep these boys out the team. It’s a great opportunity for the ones who do come in so hopefully they can take it.

“You can see Andy’s (Considine) got years and years of experience and he’s fitted in. It’s not been a problem for him and I’m sure he’ll continue to do that.

“We’ve kept a few clean sheets recently and it’s something we need to continue doing. It doesn’t really matter who’s playing as there’s an onus on the full team to work hard to keep the ball out of the net. We’ve seen that in the last couple of games. Obviously Sunday we lost the goal, but it was one lapse in concentration and for the majority of the game we kept Celtic quiet. It’s up to everyone to keep the ball out of the net and as a defender you take extra pride in it.”
