“You have to be honest at times.

“Wednesday night was terrible.

“It was nowhere near good enough.

“It was not through a lack of effort but for whatever reason everything that could go wrong in a team performance went wrong. We did not play well in possession, we did not play well out of possession. We need to do better, and a hell of lot better on Saturday.

“Against Hearts we were not good enough all over the park.

“It was a reminder that standards need to be set in terms of performances and results. The two go hand in hand. You don’t get too many results without some good performances. Perform the way we did against Hearts, you will not win many games.

“On paper we are a good team but this season we have not proved it.

“It is simple as that.

“Other teams have been better than us so far. We still have a bit of the season to go to try and correct that. We believe we are better than our league position suggests but we have limited time left now to go and prove that.

“I am ok to go again tomorrow.

“It was more my back and neck as opposed to my head. It was a bit sore, but we had a recovery yesterday and trained today so I am fine to go again tomorrow. We have a great medical team and the Doctor and Adam made sure I was ok.

“I am looking forward to the game tomorrow.

“The older you get, the more you want to play. You want to be involved in every minute of every game. After working hard during the week in training, on a Saturday you should get enjoyment out of playing. For me, I always want to be available and involved in as many games as possible.

“The older you get, also the more game knowledge you get. You get used to playing different roles. I will play anywhere. I am more than happy to play wherever the manager wants me to play.

“I have always been a player that looks ahead, and not behind me, regardless of whether it is football or just life. You have to look forward. As a football club we should not be where we are, but the fact of the matter is we are where we are. We need more points and we need to move up the table so we don’t have to worry about what is behind us.

“We need to start getting more points on the board sooner rather than later, and hopefully start tomorrow.

“The games against Rangers this season, we have had things go against us. With a bit more luck we could have taken three points in both games. We played well against them in the two previous games, so there is no reason why that can’t happen again.”
