The Game

“Getting through to the next round is the most important thing with any cup game.

“I can’t remember a real chance that they had; it was a quiet game for me. The back four did their jobs. The two centre halves just nullified anything that came into our half.

“It was about us attacking wise, another day we would have had four or five. We had three or four headers we probably should have scored from. Bruce had a couple of chances, which you would back him to score.

“Their keeper had one or two good saves.

“When it is 0-0 you run the risk of them popping up with something, but we dealt with anything that they had coming forward.

“There were fortunately no dramas.

“After having that break it is important to get back to winning ways.

“It wasn’t the emphatic victory that everyone wanted but a win is a win.

“I thought in general there was a lot of good play.

“The anxiety comes towards the back end of the game when it is still 0-0 because we hadn’t taken our chances.

“We kept putting the ball into the box, we kept trying to do the right things.

“Eventually it wasn’t luck or fluke that we got the penalty it was us being persistent. Sam does well to get across his marker. It was a clear penalty and Sam puts it away as he usually does.

“It is a competition we want to win this year. Today was the first step.”

Motherwell Game

“Wednesday is a huge game; I am really looking forward to that.

“Our last game we won 3-0 and score three brilliant goals.

“They have been very consistent and have been winning game after game and it should be an excellent game.

“Our last game against Motherwell and our 3-0 win against Kilmarnock were possibly the team’s best performances of the season.

“We played really against Motherwell last time, playing away from home, players playing out of position, it was an excellent performance and we will look to replicate that.

“They will be better than what they were that day as well.

“They are a strong side and we will need a strong performance to get the job done.”

Dylan McGeouch

“Dylan is a fantastic signing.

“He is very good player.

“He is good on the ball, energetic, positive and a big addition to the squad. He is going to be an important signing for us.

“Hopefully he can affect the way that we are playing, and he can be an integral part going forward.

“He is a great lad.

“We have got competition for places now and that is important.”

Return of The Home End

“The initiative from the club and the fans getting involved in the Red Shed is a brilliant idea. The club need commended for it and the fans for buying into it, they filled that end and made plenty of noise.

“Everyone wants a better atmosphere here. Dave Cormack has been very vocal about it and hopefully that can be the start of that.

“It is a great idea.

“Today’s game where normally people would come and expect us to win and normally the crowd are waiting for something from the pitch, today you could really hear them.

“I think they can make the difference; a good atmosphere can really make the difference in those tight games.

“It was great to see the noise and colour in there today and all the boys in the dressing room really appreciate the backing we got throughout the 90 minutes.”
