Connor "This is where I want to play my football"
There was good news for the Dons earlier today when Connor McLennan put pen to paper on a new two year contract at the club, taking him through until the summer of 2023. Having come right through the ranks here, Connor was delighted to extend his time here at Pittodrie.
“It was a very easy decision to sign a new contract, it didn’t take long at all to get things sorted out. This is where I want to play my football, that’s always been the case, so I’m very happy to get the deal done.
“I’ve been here from when I was eight or nine, I’ve had all my career, so I must be due for a testimonial now! Seriously though, I like working with the players here, the staff have been great with me all the way through, so I couldn’t be happier.
“Everyone is living through unsettling times at the moment, not just footballers, so to sign a contract and have that security of knowing where I’m going to be for the next two years is important.
“I want to win trophies here, that’s a big part of continuing to be at the club. Hopefully we can get a good run in the Scottish Cup. We’re doing well in the league, hopefully we’ll have European football again next season, so all of that made it very easy to sign a new deal.
“I spoke to the gaffer before signing and the plan is very much for me to kick on and cement a first team place over this contract. I’ve been here a long time now, learning my trade, so now the challenge I have is to make myself a regular first team starter. If I can get a run where I’m free of injury, I believe I’ll be able to do that over these next two years.”
