told the boys to believe in themselves

Refresh

Peter Leven pointed to self-belief as the key factor as the Dons produced an outstanding second half display to draw with Celtic at Pittodrie.

“We know Celtic are a good side, they’re going to have the ball and put you under pressure. But at half-time, I just told the boys to relax into the game, to believe in themselves and be braver on the ball. We created a number of good chances in the second half. I thought we were energetic, pressed the ball a lot better and we showed that belief.

“The fans were brilliant and they drove the boys on and you need that against teams like Celtic. The boys gave them everything, they were working hard all over the pitch and whoever comes in as manager, they’re inheriting a great bunch of boys.

“We’re in tomorrow to recover ahead of the Rangers game and we can take confidence into that one after this performance. It’s a good point, and now the boys need to keep believing in themselves because they are a top team, as they showed in the second half.”
