Stefan Gartenmann previews the trip to Ibrox
“With the weeks leading up to the Ross County game and how it panned out on Wednesday, we felt like it was the beginning of something new or a turning point.
“We have felt in in training and in matches that we have level to win games but it has just not been happening at the beginning of the season.
“We have had a good week but if we take a look at the table we are still in trouble at the moment. I wouldn’t say that it is all happy days from here because looking at the table in the league and in Europe we need points. I know the past two performances have been good but the fact is still that we are not where we want to be. We are still only in the semi-final of the cup and if we lose that of our hard work won’t have meant anything.
“So we are happy that we won the last two games and did well in Frankfurt but we want more and have the hunger to go on and start a really good streak as we are nowhere near where we think we can be.
“The contact with Aberdeen started a few months back and I was quite keen on it from the beginning but I also knew not to get too excited too quickly when these things pop up. But my agent tried to keep the contact going throughout as Midtjylland were a bit reluctant to let me go at the time, so I had to deal with that as well.
“But on the last day of the transfer window I got the green light to go and everything that needed to get sorted out got done in 10-12 hours. I am here now and am really happy. The life over here suits me quite well. Scottish football is perfect for the player that I am so hopefully I can build on that and become even better in the future.
“UK football in a way is the childhood game when you watch the games in the Premier League and the clubs in the Champions League. You always dream about the passion and the spirit here. I wasn’t just focused on the UK but just going abroad in general was the dream for me. That had failed on several occasions but the perfect opportunity has came here and luckily it all worked out.”
“I dream of being another one of those of those successful stories from Denmark and one of those heroes that people will talk about many years from now. That is the dream you have when you come over here.
“I know I have my limits as a footballer but there are still over ways to be loved by the fans as over here it is all about the spirit and working hard, and I can feel that those kinds of things are appreciated more over here than in Denmark. I know I won’t play a 10/10 game every time but I will work hard no matter what.
“As a footballer you live for these games (Rangers tomorrow) and I think we have the players to rise to the occasion like that. We are going to go down there and play a clever game. We are not going to be thinking we can dominate Rangers throughout the 90 minutes as we still have to be defensive when that is needed and then go more offensively when we can.
“We are not thinking that we are the best in the world just yet and we have to play a clever game tomorrow.”
