Stefan Gartenmann Post Match Quotes

Refresh

Stefan Gartenmann spoke to the press after the defeat to Kilmarnock at Pittodrie.

“Kelle has had one save to make all night then in the last minute, their player takes the touch of his life and then sticks it in the top corner. We suddenly need 10 or 12 chances to score a goal and that combination makes it difficult to win matches. It’s how things are going for us right now.

“When you lose games and things aren’t going your way, it hits the confidence. But you can either feel sorry for yourself or you can keep your chin up and move on, which is what we must do. We want to see a win against Hearts on Saturday. We feel like once we get that win, things will turn.

“Many of the guys have been in these situations before, we know what it takes to turn it around and we believe we can do it. I have played in situations where you are under pressure, you feel the world is against you, but the wheel turns, you start getting decisions or the bounce of the ball, and then you go on a good streak. And I can say that in the dressing room, we are very confident of that.

“We are angry, just like the fans, but I hope people can see we are moving in a direction where we are playing better. We dominated Hibs, we played some good football, we had all the possession against Kilmarnock, but when the results aren’t right, I know people get tired of hearing about a process and not getting what you deserve. But we feel we are one result away from turning things around. The club did it last season, I have done it at other clubs, we all believe we will do it again.

“We all need that little bit of confidence at the moment, but that’s football. We will get things right, the manager will help us turn it around because he’s one of the best managers I have worked with, and we will go on a good run of results. In two weeks time, we might be sitting here again with a couple of league wins and a cup. That’s how football goes.”
