The Dons play their final home match of the 2023/24 season on Wednesday evening when Livingston travel north to Pittodrie. Peter Leven gave his thoughts to the media on Tuesday lunchtime at Cormack Park. RedTV subscribers can watch in full through the video above:

“It will be a tough game, every game in the Premier League is tough. We know that they have been relegated but there are players there who will be fighting for contracts elsewhere or fighting for contracts to stay. Nothing is guaranteed. Nothing is guaranteed in this league but we need to be at it.

“The boys have been great since I came in. We had lacked that cutting edge in a few games before the Hibs game but thankfully everybody got to see that when we are ruthless we can turn it on.

“I have loved the time that I have been in charge. We’ve got two big games left and we want to win the both of them. A lot of people might not know about my journey but I went abroad to learn and that helped me a lot because I was successful abroad in two different countries and it has helped me a lot being in the role right now.

“Consistency is massive. We had a meeting after the Dundee game and  I said to the players that seventh is where we want to finish. It is not ideal with where the club want to be overall but its high as we can get and that is where we want to finish.

“When I went abroad to coach I wanted to go and test myself and learn about a different culture. different language and the family supported it. I was in Belarus for two years where we won the league for the first time in the clubs history, I have coached in European competitions and then went to Russia and got promotion as well to the Russian Premier League which was amazing. Along the way we won the League Cup and Super Cup. It was successful, I think we won five trophies in two years. To be abroad, to learn and to take myself out of the comfort zone I really enjoyed it.

“It’s nice to have the fans back on board and having that collective support. At times it has been difficult this year but since I have come in the players have bought into what I want to do and you can see it now on the pitch and I am just delighted about Sunday and getting the four goals.

“Scott Anderson and Stuart Duff have been brilliant with the U18s this year. A lot of players went on loan at Christmas so they lost their top players. The young ones have had to step up and they have done that and young Fletcher has been one of them. He has contributed over 30 goals this season from assists and goals. To get him on the pitch the other day was amazing but for him to score was wonderful.

“Livingston will always fight to the end under Davie. They will make it difficult for us. As I’ve always said it is all about what we do, if we approach it the right way with tempo and how we can play. We need to continue the form that we are in.

“I wanted to set the tone since I took over. I wanted to really up the tempo and the passing and everything that I wanted to do. Hopefully the fans can see that with what we’re trying to do here and we’re getting results and clean sheets which is huge for us as well.

“Pape is doing well over in Norway on loan. We have been keeping an eye on him. He will come back when his loan is up and that is something for next season.

“Every game against Livingston is a tough game. They’re going to come up here and give it a go and we need to match that first and foremost and we need to be right at it. The boys know the challenge, I want to win the next two games.”
