Manager Neil Warnock spoke to the media on Friday morning to preview Saturday’s game with Hibernian in the cinch Premiership. RedTV subscribers can watch in full now through the video above.

“When you come in, you’ve got to quickly learn about the group you’ve got and individuals and everything else really. I’ve not been thrown into it but it’s been a quick baptism of fire really. I’m learning all the time. The pluses are the other night with the character of the team, it would be quite easy to have given up. I thought the lads in midfield were really determined, I was very pleased with Connor, Shinnie and Clarkie. I thought Jamie and Duk contributed when they came on and there are certain parts of the game which I’m going to show the lads this morning, with what is required if we’re going to win games. That’s what I’ve been brought in to do.

“It’s been nice to bring Junior in today, because we haven’t got a massive squad and Junior knows how I play and where I want him to play. That was a no brainer. There’s no point in bringing somebody in that’s not as good as what you’ve got, or just as good. I had to smile last night. I was talking to Monty (Nick Montgomery) and I asked him how many players they brought in and he said seven. Seven players in the January window! So he’s got the opposite problem to me, he’s got too many players probably.

“Junior is a calming influence if I’m honest. He’s not going to knock the doors down on everybody. I always call him ‘Mr. Eight out of 10’ and I have had a few 10s out of him over time. I’ve had him a few sixes as well I suppose! He is a nice lad as well in the dressing room. I feel we just need that little bit more on the bench to give us a little bit more and a few more goals here and there. When I asked him and I told him where I was and asked him if he’d come up, he said straightaway, he said ‘yeah I will come up’ because he’s enjoyed playing for me in the past. He’s desperate to get in the Canadian squad again. He looks in good nick. We’re pleased and he will fit in well into the dressing room.

“What Hibs have got is a very, very good front three.  Looking at the clips that I’ve seen, I don’t think there’ll be many better in the division really. So it’ll be a good test for our defenders tomorrow. We’ve got a lot of strength in the other areas and so we’ve got to play to our strengths as well. We need to get the fans going as well and try not to concede so early!

“He had a temperature of 38.7 yesterday (Richard Jensen). He’s on antibiotics, etc. I spoke to him this morning and he’s going to have a little jog out tomorrow and we’ll see how he is in the morning. I won’t take any risks with him. I thought Angus did well. The problem they’ve got the lads is there is no sort of reserve team. I know it’s hard but the lads have got to have minutes, the lads that aren’t playing. You put them straight in and it’s hard to at this level to get straight in at 90 minutes. I thought Angus did well the other night and Richard has also done well while I’ve been here.”
