Last week Leighton Clarkson sat down in the first team dressing room and spoke to RedTV about his year in the north-east of Scotland. The 21-year-old Englishman has enjoyed an impressive season on loan from Liverpool, with six goals and nine assists. To watch the feature please click on the video above.

“I have enjoyed the experience massively. I have said before, coming to Scotland is something I had never thought I  would do and I was a bit wary at first but as soon as I came in, the first week felt really good and after the first month I’d say it was like home.

“Just walking down the street and people always talking to you, making friends with people who are not even from the club. There are so many people that are football people up here and that’s what I like about it.

“Wherever I go there’s always fans there and I enjoy it because it’s nice to feel appreciated whether I’m in town or on a night out, you’ll always get people coming up to you but they’ve never said a bad word.

“I feel comfortable. I’ve always been quite a shy person – not on the pitch – but more with meeting new people and I remember speaking to Jayden the other day and he said I remember looking at you on your debut being so shy and then you put it in the top bin!

“As I said after three week I settled in fine and I grew with everyone in here and its the nights out, after training going for a coffee with the boys, it’s the little things like that that I’ve not had anywhere else that the boys in here do.

“Although we train in here and do everything together, afterwards I’ll probably see two, three, four, five of them anyways whether it is going into town, shopping or whatever, it’s a really tight knit group.”
