It is another big game
Jack MacKenzie was the player who spoke to the media on Friday to preview the cinch Premiership game at Livingston.
“This is another big game. All the games recently have been big games. Winning the last two league games is obviously important for us and we are looking to building on that – try and make it three wins in a row for the first time this season. It would be good at this stage of the season to put a run together. I believe we can manage that.
“Livingston are obviously in a difficult situation, but I have at no point ever had an easy game down at Livingston. We know what is going to be, it is up to us to show our ability and have the fight to go and win the game.
“I don’t think our performance last week against Ross County was our best to be honest with you, but putting a couple of wins together always helps with confidence. We will be looking to build on that this weekend.
“I would not say the speculation around the new manager is unsettling. It is clear in our minds that Peter is taking the team at the moment. Peter has done a brilliant job. He has been absolutely excellent the whole season to be honest, even when he was the third coach. Now he is the interim manager, we are just focussed on the instructions that he is giving us. It is not a distraction for us.
“As players, we just look to the next game. It is the boring answer, but it is the way we work. Our heads are on Livingston, and then we concentrate on the Dundee game. We know Peter is in charge for tomorrow.
“He has a good relationship with the players and that has not changed too much since he became the manager. We are all on board with what he wants us to do which obviously helps.
“He has a way of playing and we are taking to it.
“We pass the ball a bit more. We are trying to play with the ball on the deck a bit more. We trust each other on the ball. I think you can see the boys enjoy playing that way and the confidence has increased.
“We are looking to continue that in the next couple of games.
“There are still going to be teething issues because we have spent the whole season playing a certain way but it is about not getting frustrated and understanding that we will at times give the ball away, we will give up chances. But if we stick to our principles then we will hopefully get the wins and we have done that the last couple of games and got six points.
“We still have a lot to play for. We know we are not out of the woods at the back end of the table and we have a semi-final coming up at Hampden in a few weeks, so there is plenty to play for.
“We haven’t been good enough in the league this season, so it is about continuing to improve on that tomorrow and over the rest of the season.”
