I made my frustration pretty clear in the dressing room

Refresh

It was a frustrated Graeme Shinnie who spoke to the press after the Dons came away from St Johnstone with a point on Wednesday night.

“I was really disappointed with the way we finished the game, and I made that frustration pretty clear in the dressing room. They were counter-attacking too easily and we could have lost the game in the end, from a position where we had full control for 75 minutes, without really threatening as much as we wanted.

“But from getting in front, we lost a really poor goal and then became really disjointed, too disconnected from back to front. They were getting through us too easily, we gave them an opportunity to win it, they hit the bar in the last minute, and so that last part of the game is really frustrating.

“Once Bojan scored the penalty, I thought we would go on and win it. We were reasonably comfortable in the game, but it was a really poor goal that we conceded in every respect. We need to stop the cross, we need to deal with the ball better once it comes in, so it’s the team as a whole that concedes goals, just as it’s the team as a whole that scores goals.

“It would have been brilliant to see the game out and win it, because the three points would have been massive.

“We move on to Saturday.

“Where we are in the league isn’t where we want to be, so we’re at a stage now where we need to be looking to pick up three points in every game that we can. I know it’s a cliché but we’re not looking any further ahead than the next game. We need to put points on the board as quickly as we can. Tynecastle is a hard place to go on Saturday, but we know if we play up to our abilities, we can go and get a result.”
