Graeme Shinnie Post-Match Reaction on RedTV
Aberdeen skipper Graeme Shinnie made no bones about the fact that his side should have come away with all three points against Hibs at Pittodrie.
“We should have won the game. We were the better team in the first half, second half they had a bit more of the ball, we deepened off a bit too much, but we created some decent opportunities and we’re really frustrated with another draw.
“The thing that’s costing us is the cheap goals that we’re conceding. We’ll never win games if we keep giving away goals like we are. The opposition isn’t having to work hard enough to score against us and we have to put that right. Going forward, we’ve been fine, we’ve scored five goals in two games, that should be enough to win both games. We’re getting in good areas, scoring some good goals so that is encouraging, but we have to stop giving goals away.
“It’s been fine margins. On another day, Bojan scores at the back post or he gets a penalty when, in my opinion, he gets punched in the face by the goalkeeper. There’s no malice in it but Bojan gets there first and it’s a penalty. Last season, I won the ball, my follow through caught the player and I got a four game ban. These moments aren’t going our way at the moment.
“The manager will go through it all in training next week. He won’t sugar coat anything, he tells it as it is, and he’s been a breath of fresh air. It’s not as if Barry had lost the dressing room, we were still working very hard for him, and the manager now has just tried to build on that, keep the spirits up, and on the training pitch, he’s put his own stamp on it. He’s still learning about the squad, but he’s been brilliant to work with.”
