Angus post-match on RedTV
Angus MacDonald called for the Dons to “get back to basics” after falling to a second consecutive 2-0 defeat.
“Putting your finger on the problem is hard. It isn’t for the want of trying, the lads are putting everything in, but things aren’t coming off for us. We have to get back to basics, we have to get back to clean sheets. Being at the heart of the defence, that’s something I need to look at, all us defenders do. We’ve got to cut out these individual mistakes. We have to stick together as a group and focus on winning on Saturday at St Mirren.
“Confidence is low and we need something to change, but that can happen quickly in football. We’ve all seen it and been here in our careers before, where you just need something to go for you to change your luck. But equally, to lose 2-0 at home, the performance wasn’t good enough.
“There probably is some anxiety deep down, it’s tough when you’re on a run like this, but there is some experience in that dressing room and we need to drag the team through the problems. I’m sure we’ll come out the other side of it and thins will be looking more positive in a couple of weeks.
“Off the back of last season, doing so well, it’s tough for everyone to deal with, but we can’t look backwards, we can only look at the next game. We know what’s at stake, we know that being joint third bottom is nowhere near good enough. If we can get three points on Saturday, we can start building again. Winning at St Mirren would be a massive confidence boost.”
