Angus MacDonald | St Johnstone Preview
“We know what is riding on the game. It would be nice to go into the last three games of the season, taking that worry away. Every game we have played this season is a big game, it is not just this one.
“We have struggled against St Johnstone this season. We have come to us with a game plan and stopped us from playing. They have played well against us. But we are in good form, everyone is fit and ready for it. If we can implement our game plan, then we know we can go on and get the win.
“In almost every game in Scotland you have to win the fight first to give yourselves a platform to go and win the game. And that is definitely what we are doing to have to do tomorrow, first 1—15 minutes, roll our sleeves up and win first balls, win second balls. If we do that, we give ourselves a good chance.
“I don’t know what has changed defensively, but if you keep cleansheet, you give yourself a great platform to go and win games. Luckily we are now doing that.
“It is a shame this run has come so late on in the campaign. That will be the frustrating the fans have now seen. Who knows what would have happened if we had put this run together a little bit earlier. But that is football. You have highs and lows in every season. But with the new manager coming in, it is massively important we take some momentum into the new season and show what we can do as players.
“Our aim is to finish as high up the table as possible. That means trying to finish seventh. We have a massive game tomorrow but if we get the win we then go to Easter Road next week. As I say, it is important we finish the season strongly and try and win these last four matches.
“I have enjoyed being captain. Graeme is a brilliant skipper and someone everyone looks up to. It is slightly different coming in and filling the captain’s shoes, but wearing the captain’s armband for this club is a massive honour. It has been a proud moment for myself and my family. It felt great getting to lead the team to the win last week.”
