Stephen Robinson was appointed Head Coach of Aberdeen Football Club in 2026, joining from St Mirren alongside assistant Brian Kerr on a contract through to the summer of 2029.
A highly experienced coach with more than 400 matches in management, Robinson has built a strong reputation within Scottish football for delivering results, developing players and consistently outperforming resources.
During his time at Motherwell, he led the club to a third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership, qualification for European competition and two domestic cup finals. His work also saw a number of young players progress through the system and secure high-value moves, underlining his strength in player development.
He continued that trajectory at St Mirren, guiding the club to a top-six finish in 2022/23, their first in 36 years, and repeating that success in subsequent seasons, while also returning the club to European competition. Under his leadership, St Mirren became one of the most competitive sides outside the traditional top clubs, culminating in a memorable League Cup victory and a return to Hampden in the Scottish Cup.
Earlier in his career, Robinson managed in England with Oldham Athletic and Morecambe, following coaching roles with the Northern Ireland national team.
At Aberdeen, Robinson arrives with a clear mandate to restore competitiveness, establish a strong on-pitch identity and build a resilient, high-performing team. His commitment to developing young talent aligns closely with the club’s ambition to strengthen its player pathway and long-term sustainability.
