Report
A lively Pittodrie Stadium hosted Hungarian side Puskás Akadémia FC. As with the crowd, the home side started well stretching the visitors’ backline specifically down the right-hand side influenced by fullback Victor Enem and midfielder Ellis Clark.
The first shot on target would come from Puskás Akadémia FC however, as Mondovics shot calmy into Vitols’ path. Fletcher Boyd responded minutes later with a strike of his own, but similarly shot into the hands of the goalkeeper.
Just after the 10-minute mark the visitors began to settle into the game enjoying an extended period of possession leading into a huge chance that came back off the post from Tyschuk. Puskás Akadémia’s pressure became insurmountable as minutes later the deadlock was broken as Vékony’s shot deflected off Enem catching Vitols by surprise at his near post.
The Young Dons did not let their heads drop though as six minutes later captain Alfie Stewart intercepted a loose pass just outside the box before driving down the wing to deliver a delicious ball into the path of the inform Fraser Mackie to coolly finish into the roof of the net. Game On.
A huge save from Vitols kept the scoreline at 1-1 as the lively Tyschuck found himself 1 on 1 in the 24th minute.
Vékony turned provider to give the away side the lead just before the 30-minute mark as his cross was guided in by Puskás Akadémia captain Ádám Umathum following a corner.
Just after lovely buildup from the Young Dons, Puskas Academia sunk the home supports spirits as Mondovics rounded Vitols to make it 1-3, leaving a big ask for the home side going into the break.
Half-time: Aberdeen 1-3 Puskás Akadémia FC.
5 minutes into the second half Mondovics found the back of the net again for his brace after latching onto a long ball, flicking past the on-rushing Vitols to smash home into an empty net.
The game grew into a more physical affair with both sides involving themselves in some gritty tussles.
A marauding run from Orjan down the right hand side on the 50th minute saw Miskolczi’s shot parried out to the ever present Kevin Mondovics for his hat trick putting to bed any sort of Aberdeen comeback.
Scott Anderson looked to his bench for an injection of energy after the blow. Clark made way for Noah Mcdonnell and Ross made way for Brendan Hamiliton in a double substitution on the hour mark.
Enem looked most likely to get his side a goal back as his tricky runs troubled the Viktor Vitalyos with his last contribution being exactly that before coming off for Joseph Teasdale.
The Young Dons search for a second came close as Alfie Stewart’s delivery almost found its way into the back of the net on the 70th minute. Fletcher Boyd almost got one of his own as he shot on target from outside the box minutes later.
A pretty one-two initiated by substitute Magyarics led to a Zahorán shot who narrowly missed the target just before the final whistle.
