Dons defender Nicky Devlin admitted that a draw was a fair result as Aberdeen’s hopes of taking their Conference League adventure further were dealt a blow in the 1-1 draw with FC Noah.

“I don’t really think we did enough in the game to win it, to be honest with you. Especially second half, there was a lack of quality throughout the whole team. I don’t think we created enough. Even in the first half, we had a lot of the ball, but we didn’t create enough to hurt them.

“That’s not just the attacking players, the defensive players were in good positions at times as well. We didn’t really make the goalkeeper make too many saves, that’s the most disappointing thing. We’ve got good enough players on the pitch and forward-thinking players on the pitch to create more. As a team, we have to do it together. There’s different ways we can score goals and it can’t always just be forward players, expecting them to pull something out of the hat or create magic. We have to all chip in with goals.

“It feels like a missed opportunity, with it being a home game. We wanted to progress in the competition. We obviously felt tonight was one of the games that we had to win. It’s made it very, very difficult now to qualify. We’ll have to try and win the last two games and hope other results go our way.”

The Dons did take the lead, Kevin Nisbet getting his first goal of the season just before the break.

“Topi did really well to keep the ball alive down in the corner and then showed good composure. He picked Kevin out and everyone knows in the club, if we create chances for him, he’ll score goals. Hopefully, it’s the first of many this year. He’s obviously delighted to get off the mark, it was a good finish.”

From here, Aberdeen head for Livingston on Sunday, looking to continue their good run of results in the SPFL Premiership.

“The way the fixtures are in the next couple of weeks, we don’t get a chance to dwell on games. We’ve got two days now to recover before we go to Livingston. It’s a game where we have to go down there and win. It’ll be difficult. They’ll probably look forward to us coming down there after a European game.

“We need to be at it. We need to show more than we did on Thursday, especially when we get into the forward areas and create a wee bit more. Livingston’s always a difficult game. They’ve got good players that can hurt you if you let them, so we have to make sure we’re at it.”
